Introduction

The Anti-Doping Organization of Pakistan is the only established National Anti-Doping Organization which is accredited with WADA and Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO, Central Asia). This organization is also recognized by Government of Pakistan and National Olympic Committee. It is also actively involved in Anti-Doping Sampling Procedure, Result Management, Therapeutic Use Exemptions and Education Programme etc. Its headquarter is located at Islamabad. The ADOP staff is responsible for managing and coordinating the organization’s programme initiatives including testing, adjudication, research and education.

The scope of the ADOP is deterring the use of drugs in sports which is necessary to preserve the integrity of sports in Pakistan.

Athletes, including children who dream of athletic success would have a fundamental right to believe that they would not need to use drugs to compete. ADOP is dedicated to protecting that right and welcome the opportunity to work with any sport that would be committed to the cause of drug-fee sport.

ADOP is concentrating on the basic areas of testing, results management, research, and education. The real progress could only be achieved through effective interaction with athletes, national sports federations, and international federations, other national anti-doping agencies, and WADA.

Pakistan has since ratified the UNESCO Convention and the Instrument of Ratification was signed by the President of Pakistan on 28th November, 2008.

As far as activities regarding anti-doping are concerned, Pakistan Olympic Association and the Pakistan Sports Board have adopted the Code and are following the rules. Pakistan is taking all necessary measures to eliminate the doping in sports. Athletes are tested for doping in-competition and out-of-competition.
